For those who think Scouting’s had it’s day then we suggest you think again! Every week over 80 boys and girls aged 6 to 14 take part in fun adventure and the adults have a great time too Whether you are 6 or 60 there is bound to be something you can get involved in.
We like the youngsters to experience nights away as often as possible. As well as many other camps and sleepovers our Cubs have enjoyed “Kip in A Ship” (which involved exploring London and sleeping on board HMS Belfast) as well as being joined by the scouts and regular entering the DC Challenge camp (and winning in 2009)
As well as all the regular activities when based in and around our meeting place we also meet in the summer at Sciout Park which gives the youngsters the opportunity to go climbing, use kayaks, try shooting, treasure hunts, pond dipping and many other outdoor activities. Our indoor meetings include such things as making pancakes, learn emergency, learn about Gambia and have a CSI evening and finishing up the year with a pantomime
As if that wasn’t enough we have helped others through supporting Highgate woods by making Bird Boxes and doing a litter pick and helping the homeless by making sandwiches etc
We also take part in District and County events for all ages – Handicraft competitions, Sleepovers, St George’s Day, Remembrance Day, night hikes, swimming galas…
We are a really active Scout Group in Muswell Hill (Haringey), and are keen for both adults and children alike to make the most of what Scouting has to offer. We have opportunities for adults to help that range from a few hours ayear to a few hours a week so if you could help please just let us know.
