Summer Scouting Sessions 2017

During the school summer break its is not viable in leader or young people numbers to carry on running session with holidays and other commitments taking people away.

Instead we have organised some workshop style evenings trying out some new/ favourite activities which will be run in an informal style and with the often smaller numbers will allow a more in depth session of each activity. The sessions are open to members of all sections and will take place on the following dates:

Tuesday 8th August 2017- Archery
Wednesday 9th August 2017- Air Rifles
Thursday 10th August 2017- Catapults/ Ballista Games
Monday 21st August 2017- Wide Games
Tuesday 22nd August 2017- Backwoods Cooking
Thursday 24th August 2017- Geocaching

All evenings will run 18.30 – 20.30.

The dates have been spread across various meeting nights but all members are welcome at any session you are available for.

The sessions will be run by leaders and activity instructors in line with Scout Association Rules. Those taking part will be able to earn badges for the activities completed. Those attending the air rifles evening will need to complete the form below and bring along a copy in order to take part.

Summer Scouting 2017- Air Rifles Activity Permission Form (Sect 21 Declaration)

Uniform is not required but please wear your group scarf so we can identify you as the park will still be busy with summer campers.

Although attendance is optional and the event is run on a drop-in basis it would be helpful if you are able to indicate your interest and any dates you may wish to attend by following the link above so we can ensure the appropriate adults and resources are available for the session.

Sainsburys Active Kids Vouchers 2017

Once again 9th Muswell Hill Scout Group will be taking part in this years Sainsbury’s Active Kids Scheme.

The annual promotion begins today and will run through until 2nd May during which time on each occasion you shop at Sainsbury’s, Sainsbury’s Local and Sainsbury’s Petrol Stations you will reccive active kids vouchers based on your spend. These come in the form of physical vouchers or a print out from the till.

The vouchers can be handed in to leaders on meeting nights and there will be a collection box placed in the foyer of the church hall.

Once the promotion has ended the vouchers will be counted and we will be able to order from a wide range of sports, games and cooking equipment. If we collect a significant number of vouchers it is also possible to purchase larger items such as tents, compasses and survival gear.

Last year we collected just over 1,000 vouchers which were exchanged for some new indoor games equipment and this year we hope to collect even more.

Please do help support this venture as it is a great way to grow and update our equipment stores with minimal extra cost and effort. All our equipment is used to facilitate and improve the program and events we are able to offer the young people in our group.

Thank you for your continued support.
